recently bought a used "as is" 1988 pontoon boat with an evenrude 40 hp outboard.
The motor can be raised easy enough for trailering however it won't lower. New to boating so please be kind. Ref: there is 1 actuater connected by stainless steel tubing to 2 pistons, 1 on either side of motor when the rocker switch on the throttle control is activated the motor will go up but the one time have had it in the water had to stand on lower unit while another activated the switch to lower it. Are these units done in a power up - power down or a power up - gravity down style. Any info or link to a site that can help would be much appreciated.
