I am looking at getting a Intex 400 12ft inflatable fishing boat. I do not know the weight, but I know they are NOT at all heavy. I know it's "overkill", but I am looking at getting a 70lb thrust trolling motor.
I am going to be mainly fishing by myself and mainly on a lake. But occasionally, maybe catfish bank fishing around a dam or river's edge.
Would a 70lb thrust motor move me along pretty quickly? ALL my gear, battery(ies) and myself would weight WELL under 1,000lbs.
The boat when fully inflated would be 50" wide. I calculated weights and if I ran 2 batteries it would be about 120lbs. Add in myself and I'm at 320lbs. Add ALL my gear and the motor itself and I would be at let's say 550-650lbs (including boat weight). And I don't mean BY a dam, I just mean up from a dam or riverside anchoring for catfishing by a dam.
