fishing in a creek or in a river questions?

What are the biggest things you can catch fishing in a creek and what do you use to catch them?

I usually catch jacks, snappers, and catfish off docks but what will I need to do catch bigger stuff. I know boat obviously, but what are the biggest and best things to catch in creeks????

Also, how about rivers?
